Benin

Weather: Precipitation throughout Benin was mostly in line with historic averages, though the regions of Boukoumbé and Natitingou received considerably more than long term averages (105 and 111 mm respectively). Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT*

Brazil

Weather: Despite being wetter than the long-term average in many areas, weekly precipitation during the dry season remained low, peaking near 20 mm in São Luís. Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT

Forecast 2025: 290 to 300 kg/ha

Cambodia

Weather: Weekly precipitation was broadly in line with historical averages, ranging from 60 to 90 mm across cashew-growing areas. Temperatures, however, remained cooler than normal, averaging 24–26°C against a long-term average of 26.7–28.8°C. Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT

Production 2025 (harvest year): 850,000 tons

Forecast 2026: Insufficient data following implementation of changes to government subsidies. Reviewing this weekly.

 

India

Weather: This week’s monsoon was concentrated along India’s western coast. Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri logged ~285 mm and ~274 mm, more than double their long-term averages. Goa and coastal Karnataka also registered significant surpluses (~270–280 mm vs. ~130 mm LTA). By contrast, Odisha remained relatively dry, with Puri seeing just ~71 mm, only half its usual seasonal precipitation. Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT

Production 2025 (harvest year): ~800,000

Forecast 2026: 780,000 tons – down 2% from last year – very early forecast based on dry beginning to season.

 

Indonesia

Weather: Precipitation was highly variable this week. Mamuju Utara in Sulawesi recorded ~86 mm, almost double its LTA, while Mataram also saw heavy showers (~34 mm vs. 10 mm LTA). By contrast, Kupang was nearly dry. Temperatures across key regions ran slightly cooler than average. Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT

Yield 2023 (harvest year, 2024 not available): 366 kg/ha

Forecast 2025: 376 kg/ha – up 1.5% from last week based on recent weather trends.

 

Ivory Coast

Weather: Modest precipitation across northern Ivory Coast, with Savanes and Woroba registering totals slightly below the seasonal norm, while Zanzan was near average. Temperatures held broadly steady against the long-term mean, with no major anomalies observed. Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT

Production 2025 (harvest year): 1,250,000 tons

Forecast 2026: Initial data says decrease of 10% to 15%. However, anti-smuggling efforts and changes in farming practices could increase the production. Our model will be updated to take smuggling into account.

 

Nigeria

Weather: While temperatures remain consistent with long-term trends, the cashew producing regions of Nigeria are experiencing a drier week than is usual for this time of year. Enugu’s weekly precipitation is down from 61mm to 26mm and Kogi’s similarly has dropped from 58mm to 29mm.

Yield 2025 (harvest year): 500 kg/ha

Forecast 2026: 450 kg/ha – down 12% from last year, very early season prediction (start June end May), following multi-year downward trend.

 

Tanzania

Weather: Temperatures in Tanzania remained similar to the LTA, up 1°C in Mtwara (24.9°C vs 23.85°C) and Lindi (24.5°C vs 23.4°C). Bagayomo experienced a drop in precipitation compared to its long-term average, down 2.42mm from 7.5mm to 5.08mm. Cashews Weather Information – CropGPT

Production 2025 (harvest year): 528,000 tons

Forecast 2026: 559,000 tons – No change from last week.

 

Vietnam

Weather: Vietnam experienced a wet week in comparison to previous years. Đồng Xoài’s precipitation increased from an LTA of 67mm to 109mm for this week. In addition, Biên Hòa rose from 61mm to 82mm. As well as being wetter, the same regions had reduced temperatures, Đồng Xoài down from 27.6°C to 24.8°C and Đồng Xoài down from 28°C to 25.6°C.

Yield 2025 (harvest year): 1,200 kg/ha

Forecast 2026: 1,460 kg/ha – Very premature estimate
