Market News
Vietnam has surpassed expectations in cashew exports for the first seven months of 2025, achieving significant export revenues estimated at $261.8 billion USD, marking a 14.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Monthly averages during this timeframe hit $37.4 billion USD, with May and June each exceeding $39.5 billion USD in exports and July anticipated to exceed $41.6 billion USD.
The country’s import turnover also saw a significant rise, amounting to about $252.1 billion USD, a 17.9% increase from the previous year. This increase in imports is attributed to the boosted importation of raw materials necessary for meeting the rising demand in export orders. Despite the increase, Vietnam maintained a trade surplus of $9.7 billion USD, lower than the $12.6 billion USD surplus recorded in the previous year. This surplus supports maintaining foreign exchange reserves, stabilizing monetary policy, and sustaining development in the medium and long term.
Administratively, Vietnam is enhancing efficiency through the simplification of procedures and introduction of new regulations. The Import and Export Department is set to propose the issuance of Decree No. 146 and Circular Nos. 38 and 40 in mid-2025, aimed at decentralizing functions within the trade sector and streamlining the issuance of certificates of origin. This initiative will also reduce the compliance costs associated with 44 administrative procedures by 32.5%.
In terms of policy and digital transformation, the industry is encouraged to stay informed about trade policies, navigate technical barriers, invest in quality and technology enhancements, and engage with digital transformations to adhere to international standards. The government is also pushing for domestic enterprises to participate in production and supply chains with foreign-invested and global enterprises, fostering more robust market connections and expansion opportunities. Updated market information, timely updates on market demands, and policy advisements are part of the holistic approach to maintaining competitiveness and compliance with international trade standards.
