Benin

Weather: Rainfall was again well below normal across Benin, with most areas collecting only 25–50 mm compared with long-term norms of 70–80 mm; the deficit was most pronounced in the south, where Abomey and Bohicon received barely 10 mm against averages above 50 mm. Temperatures, meanwhile, trended warmer than usual: central and southern districts (Savalou, Glazoué, Abomey, Bohicon) ran 1–1.5 °C above seasonal means, while northern zones such as Kandi and Djougou stayed closer to average. Brazil

Weather: A stark north–south contrast defined the week. In the northeast interior, extreme heat prevailed: Piripiri, Campo Maior, and Chapadinha all ran 2–3.5 °C above average, with maximums peaking near 35 °C, while rainfall was negligible. Coastal Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte were also warmer than normal, though moderated by light showers, with Natal recording 18 mm against 10 mm typical. Further south in Bahia, Ilhéus and Porto Seguro had modest rains close to their LTAs, with temperatures slightly above average but far milder than the interior heat. Yield 2024 (harvest year): 358 kg/ha

Forecast 2025: 290 to 300 kg/ha (no change from last week – expected to be off-year in alternate bearing cycle).

 

Cambodia

Weather: Heavy rains dominated across Cambodia, with central and northern provinces (Kampong Svay, Chamkar Leu, Stueng Trang, Rovieng) all receiving 125–135 mm, nearly double their LTAs. Chhloung and Chey Saen were even wetter, each above 135 mm against seasonal norms near 75–80 mm. Temperatures, however, were sharply lower nationwide, running 2.5–3 °C below average across most provinces and nearly 4 °C cooler in the northeast (Ou Chum, Andoung Meas). India

Weather: Rainfall eased across the west coast and eastern seaboard, with Konkan–Kerala districts (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg) receiving 65–75 mm, only about half their LTAs. Andhra–Odisha also trended drier, with Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, and Ganjam each falling 15–35 mm short of seasonal norms. Temperatures were consistently cooler, averaging 1.5–2 °C below normal in coastal Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala, and about 2 °C lower in Andhra–Odisha, leaving the week both milder and drier than usual. Forecast 2026: 782,000 tons, no change from last week despite the recent heavy rains.

 

Indonesia

Weather: Rainfall was widespread and above seasonal norms in several areas, with Mamuju Utara reaching 87 mm (above its 73 mm LTA) and Makassar recording 39 mm, nearly double the usual. Eastern regions also saw surpluses, including Merauke (44 mm vs. 17 mm) and Bali–Lombok (Tabanan, Mataram, Jembrana) where totals were two to three times the average. Temperatures, however, were strikingly cooler across the archipelago: Bali, Lombok, and Kupang ran 2–5 °C below their LTAs, while even Makassar and Mamuju Utara were about 1–2 °C cooler, marking an unusually mild week despite the active rains. Ivory Coast

Weather: Rainfall was mixed across northern Côte d’Ivoire. Odienné and Séguéla were wetter than usual, each exceeding 75 mm with Odienné about 17 mm above its LTA, while Korhogo was slightly below normal. In contrast, Bondoukou and Bouaké were much drier, both receiving 20–25 mm less than average. Production 2025 (harvest year): 1,250,000 tons

Forecast 2026: Early season projections indicate a decrease of 10 to 15% (no change from last week).

 

Nigeria

Weather: Rainfall was highly uneven across producing states. Enugu East and Awka North stood out with 100 mm and 89 mm respectively, 15–25 mm above normal, while Onitsha South also exceeded its LTA at 81 mm. In contrast, the southwest (Abeokuta, Ibadan, Ogbomosho, Ijebu-Ode) remained very dry at barely 10–20 mm, far below seasonal norms. Temperatures were consistently warmer than usual, running about +1 °C above average across Kogi, Enugu, Oyo, and Ogun, reinforcing the contrast between wet southeast and dry southwest conditions. Tanzania

Weather: Rainfall remained very light, with southern hubs (Mtwara, Masasi, Lindi) each receiving just 2–3 mm, broadly in line with their already low seasonal averages. Along the northern coast, Tanga and Muheza saw 5–7 mm, still well short of normal. Temperatures, however, were markedly higher than usual in much of the south, running 1–1.5 °C above average in Mtwara, Masasi, and Lindi, while Songea Rural stood out at nearly +3 °C above its norm. Vietnam

Weather: Heavy rains swept across key producing areas, with Đồng Xoài, Biên Hòa, and Long Khánh each receiving 135–142 mm, about 50 mm above average, while Pleiku peaked at 143 mm, well above its 104 mm norm. Buôn Ma Thuột also stood out with 96 mm, more than double its LTA. Temperatures were markedly cooler everywhere, running 2–3 °C below seasonal norms in the southeast and as much as 3–4 °C lower in the Central Highlands, marking a notably wet and mild week.
